ABOUT
The UK Centre for Events Management at Leeds Metropolitan University is one of the worlds’ leading providers of events management education, training, research and consultancy. The Centre, the first of its kind in the UK, was established in 2000 and has been widely acclaimed within the events industry and in 2008 an Agency Survey voted the Centre the top UK events management course provider.
The Centre has conducted vast research into the events industry and is now using its expertise to work with SMEs and agencies to strengthen the events infrastructure in Yorkshire thanks to funds from the European Union and the Higher Education Innovation Fund. The UK Centre for Events Management has worked for a number of international, national and regional organisations to evaluate and consult on strategies for events including the European Commission, OECD, DfES, Heritage Lottery Fund, Institute of Travel and Tourism, Live Nation, Yorkshire Forward and local authorities across the UK.

COURSES
After establishing the first degree programme in events management in 1996, the Centre developed an HND and an MSc in Events Management. To compliment the HND programme, 4 one year top-up degrees have been added to the portfolio: Conference and Exhibition Management, Managing Cultural and Major Events, Sports Events Management and another UK first - Event Fundraising and Sponsorship. In 2008 the Centre is expanding its postgraduate and professional programmes to address the demands and needs of this dynamic global industry – from short professional certification programmes to MSc and MA qualifications in courses ranging from Responsible Events to International Festival Management for part-time and full-time students.
