ABOUT
The National Coal Mining Museum for England, near Wakefield, West Yorkshire, is a unique site offering excellent facilities for daytime and evening events. The conference rooms have been custom-designed to offer maximum flexibility for a range of functions and seat up to 200 or divide into three rooms with acoustic partitions, ideal for training sessions of up to 36 delegates. The venue offers free parking and the very latest in presentation aids.
Excellent catering and a fully licensed bar offering our own Colliers Ruin ale are on offer for all functions held at the Museum and included in the cost of room hire is the chance for delegates to travel 140 metres underground into the coal mine.
Find out about a hard day’s work by undertaking the Museum’s unique for mining-themed adventure days, which concentrate on team building, problem solving and communication skills in a unique location.

MEETING ROOMS
The Caphouse Suite is one large purpose-built room, which can be divided into three smaller rooms.
The rooms are named after local collieries - Prince of Wales, Denby Grange and Hope. Each room can be hired either individually, as two rooms combined or as all three as the Caphouse Suite.
The Caphouse Suite contains a state of the art audio-visual system, and WIFI system, which can be totally tailored to your requirements. The system includes a ceiling-mounted LCD projector and drop-down screen, which can be used with CD/DVD player, video player and laptop computer functions. The PA system includes hand-held, walkabout, lectern and lapel microphones, which can be used in any combination. |

From the North
Leave the M1 at junction 40 (A638) towards Wakefield, take the first right after the traffic lights (Broadway). The Malt Shovel pub will be on your right. At the end of Broadway turn right onto the A642 to Horbury and Huddersfield. Stay on this road for approx. 5 miles through Horbury Bridge and Middlestown. The Museum is on the right.
From the South
Leave the M1 at junction 38 (A637) and stay on this road through West Bretton and Flockton. At the roundabout at the Blacksmith’s Arms, take the third exit towards Horbury (A642). The Museum is about 2 miles from here on the left.
